Troubleshooting
This section presents some possible causes for common problems
map2hand application will not start up
Device is not running at least version 4.0 of PalmOS
Maps are not listed on the initial screen
In order to list the maps, the "Maps..." button must be tapped.
If maps are stored on the expansion card, they must be in a directory
called /Palm/programs/map2hand/maps
Maps have not been converted to map2hand format (use the MapMaker.jar desktop application)
Map is not shown on the screen when "View" is selected
Map has been converted at the wrong resolution. If you have a low-resolution (160x160)
device, then maps converted at high-resolution will not be visible.
Display is stuck on "Closing map file" after completing calibration
The map is being written back to the expansion card. This can take some time with slow cards.
GPS position is not displayed on the map
Baud rate for serial (non-bluetooth) GPS device is not correct
Current location is not on the map
Map is incorrectly calibrated
GPS device is not able to obtain a position fix
GPS position is not displayed accurately
Map calibration is inaccurate
Calibration points are too close together
Map covers too large an area for calibration to be accurate across the
entire map
Map is not a true representation of the area in question. Many road maps only show
approximate positions of the roads, and are not intended to be accurate when used with GPS devices.
